Alhaji Abdullahi Ali, widely known as Alin Kano, a notable leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC). This significant political shift occurred on Thursday when Alin Kano was formally welcomed into the APC by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin.
The transition took place at the National Assembly in Abuja, where Senator Barau praised Alin Kano for his long-standing commitment to grassroots politics. Alin Kano, who is recognized for his work in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area within the Kano South Senatorial District, has been an influential figure in Kano’s political landscape. His move to the APC is expected to have a considerable impact, particularly in the local areas he represents.
Senator Barau commended Alin Kano, who holds the traditional title of Garkuwan Tsakuwa, for his dedication and integrity. He highlighted Alin Kano’s contributions to advancing the interests of youth and students, noting that his efforts have made a significant difference both at the national and local levels.
“Alin Kano’s defection is a major boost for our party, especially in Dawakin Kudu and Kano South,” Barau stated. He emphasized that Alin Kano’s switch to the APC would strengthen the party’s position in the region and contribute to its overall growth.
In his remarks, Alin Kano expressed that his decision to join the APC was driven by his respect for Senator Barau and the senator’s substantial contributions to Kano and the broader Northern region. Alin Kano mentioned that his admiration for Barau’s leadership and the senator’s efforts in supporting the development of the region played a crucial role in his decision to switch parties.
The event marking Alin Kano’s defection was attended by several prominent individuals, adding to its significance. Among the attendees were Hon. Labaran Abdul Madari, the Minority Leader of the Kano State House of Assembly, and Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, the Special Adviser to the President on Community Engagement for the North West.
Their presence underscored the importance of the event and the impact of Alin Kano’s move on the political dynamics in Kano State.
Alin Kano’s departure from the PDP and his entrance into the APC reflects the ongoing shifts in Nigeria’s political landscape.
As the APC continues to consolidate its position, the addition of experienced and influential politicians like Alin Kano is seen as a strategic move to enhance the party’s influence and effectiveness in key regions. This development is expected to influence upcoming political activities and elections, as well as the broader political discourse in the country.
