The Ijaw Development Vanguard (IDV) commends Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State for his outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s democracy and the development of Rivers State.
In a statement marking 25 years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria, signed by its President, Comrade Sylva Mark Goodman, the group applauds Governor Fubara for promoting the advancement of Nigeria’s democracy by providing democratic dividends to the people of Rivers State and other Nigerian citizens residing in the State.
The Ijaw group celebrates Fubara’s remarkable accomplishments in critical areas such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, empowerment, and more, which have bolstered the confidence of the people of Rivers State in democracy.
IDV also portrays Governor Fubara as a valuable asset to Nigeria’s democracy due to his unique approach to political engagements.
The statement asserts, “Fubara’s political demeanor is unconventional in this region. Despite significant challenges from opponents of Rivers State, Governor Fubara has conducted himself with peace and adherence to the law to preserve harmony in Rivers State.
“Fubara deserves our commendation for not allowing his critics to hinder his delivery of democratic benefits to the deserving people of Rivers State.
“As Governor Fubara has remained resolute in his dedication to the people of Rivers State, we wholeheartedly endorse him as he embodies an asset to Nigeria’s democracy through his distinct political style.
“To ensure the continual progress of our democracy, we must entrust the safeguarding and defense of our democracy to individuals like Fubara, men and women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities in various capacities, enabling them to nurture it and allowing us to consistently enjoy the fruits of democracy in Nigeria.”
IDV further praises Chief M.K.O Abiola and all those who made sacrifices for Nigeria’s democracy, hailing them as the heroes of our democratic system.
