The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has raised concerns over the presentation of the 2025 state budget by Governor Dauda Lawal, accusing his administration of bypassing legal procedures. The party claimed that the budget presentation did not adhere to the proper legislative protocols and threatened to take legal action if the governor’s office failed to address the alleged irregularities.
APC spokesperson Idris also called on the nation’s anti-corruption agencies, including the EFCC and ICPC, to investigate what they described as financial misconduct within the governor’s administration.
In response, Mustafa Jafaru Kaura, the Special Assistant to Governor Lawal on Media and Communications, dismissed the APC’s allegations as baseless. He insisted that the budget presentation was conducted publicly, in full compliance with constitutional requirements, and took place in the state House of Assembly before a large audience.
Kaura further accused the APC of making unfounded claims to remain politically relevant. He stated that the governor’s budget presentation had followed due process and suggested that the APC’s threats of legal action were merely an attempt to gain attention within the party.
The APC, however, stood by its position, insisting that the presentation violated procedural norms and urging the governor to take corrective measures. The party reiterated its intention to seek legal recourse if the situation was not addressed appropriately.
