Presidential hopefuls under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) have pledged full support for whoever wins the party’s 2027 ticket.
Rotimi Amaechi, one of the leading presidential aspirants, made this declaration while speaking to reporters on Friday afternoon.
He stated that the party’s presidential aspirants have agreed to unite behind any candidate who emerges from a transparent primary election.
Other aspirants include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, both now in ADC.
According to Amaechi, the agreement among the presidential aspirants will only stand if the primary process remains fair and transparent.
He emphasized that defining transparency is essential to avoid manipulation of the party’s internal process by vested interests or factions.
“What we agreed is to support whoever wins a transparent primary, but we must first define what transparency means,” he said.
Although rumours suggest the ADC may zone the presidential ticket to the North, party leaders have dismissed the speculation outright.
ADC interim national chairman David Mark confirmed there is no preferred candidate and promised a level playing field for everyone.
Mark assured the public that under his leadership, the ADC would be fair, accountable, and committed to internal party democracy.
He said the ADC coalition represents a bold effort to unite opposition voices and provide Nigerians a credible alternative in 2027.
With strong figures like Obi, Atiku, and Amaechi in the race, ADC presidential aspirants may reshape Nigeria’s political landscape entirely.
Observers say the unity pact shows growing political maturity and a shared commitment to credible opposition ahead of the 2027 election.
