Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the early delays after casting his vote at Adeniji-Adele electoral ward in Lagos Island.
He explained that logistical challenges disrupted early voting, though he expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct overall.
By 4:00 p.m., APC leads Lagos election results in multiple areas, including Yaba, Ikeja, Agege, Bariga, and Somolu.
In Adeniji-Adele Polling Unit 006, where Sanwo-Olu voted, APC emerged dominant, with PDP trailing and LP in third.
Yaba LCDA APC chairmanship candidate, Adebayo Adefuye, described the election as smooth, peaceful, and critically grassroots-centered.
Adefuye told reporters that local government elections matter most because they directly impact citizens at the community level.
Unveiling his policy agenda titled Yaba tuntun (“New Yaba”), Adefuye promised fresh leadership and genuine community development.
He outlined bold plans to reverse years of poor governance and restore public trust in Yaba’s local leadership.
He also praised President Bola Tinubu for his commitment to enforcing financial autonomy at the local government level.
Adefuye emphasized that fiscal independence would allow councils to deliver real impact through transparent and accountable governance practices.
Observers noted that while the election proceeded without violence, the low turnout raises concerns about civic engagement levels.
