Borussia Dortmund staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Lille 2-1 and advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. The German side trailed 1-0 at halftime but scored two goals in the second half to seal a 3-2 aggregate victory.

The match got off to a blistering start, with Lille taking the lead in the fifth minute through Jonathan David’s clinical

finish. The French side looked poised to reach the quarterfinals for the first time in their history, but Dortmund’s

captain Emre Can had other plans.

Can converted a penalty in the 54th minute to level the tie, after Thomas Meunier fouled Serhou Guirassy in the box.

The goal sparked a resurgence in Dortmund’s performance, and they took the lead in the 65th minute through

Maximilian Beier’s header.

Guirassy was instrumental in Dortmund’s comeback, providing the assist for Beier’s goal and causing problems for

the Lille defense throughout the match. The Guinea international has been in impressive form this season, with 14

goal involvements in the Champions League.

Dortmund’s victory sets up a mouthwatering quarterfinal clash against Barcelona. The German side will be looking to

build on their impressive comeback against Lille and cause an upset against the Spanish giants.

Lille, despite ultimately falling short, can take pride in their performance. The French side pushed Dortmund all the

way and will be looking to build on this experience in future European competitions.

The match was a thrilling encounter, with both sides creating scoring opportunities. However, Dortmund’s superior

quality and determination ultimately told, as they secured a hard-fought victory.

Dortmund’s captain Emre Can praised his side’s resilience and determination after the match. “We showed great

character and spirit to come back from a goal down,” he said. “We’re delighted to be in the quarterfinals and can’t wait to face Barcelona”
