The Federal Government has announced its plan to enhance the country’s economy by utilizing its abundant gas resources effectively. President Bola Tinubu praised Oilserv Limited for its significant contribution to Nigeria’s shift towards cleaner energy during the commissioning of three crucial gas infrastructure projects in Imo State. Projects include the expansion of the AHL Gas Processing Plant in Kwale, Delta State, the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, and the 23.3km ANOH to Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Custody Transfer Metering Station Gas Pipeline Projects.
Tinubu emphasized the government’s commitment to maximizing the country’s gas resources to boost domestic gas consumption and increase national power generation capacity. He assured the revitalization of industries and the creation of job opportunities to spur economic growth.
The President acknowledged the progress made in promoting gas development through Presidential Executive Orders and praised the project partners for their investments, marking the commencement of more projects aimed at ensuring prosperity driven by gas in Nigeria.
Engr. Nnanna Anyanwu, the Managing Director of Oilserv Limited, highlighted the company’s role in advancing Nigeria’s transition to cleaner energy and conforming to global standards. He emphasized the value that domestic natural gas utilization would bring to the Nigerian economy.
The completion of the Assa Process Treatment Facility, OB3 CTMS, and the export pipeline showcased Oilserv’s commitment to project timelines, safety, and quality standards, according to Anyanwu. He stressed the economic benefits of utilizing domestic natural gas for power generation and industrial use, leading to Nigeria’s rapid modernization.
The unveiling of the Assa Gas Process Treatment Facility, themed ‘Gas to Prosperity,’ encompassed the ANOH PTF – OB3 Custody Transfer Metering Station and a gas export pipeline project. The facility is designed to transport natural gas efficiently, with the President inaugurating it virtually.
Despite acknowledging the inadequate infrastructure to leverage Nigeria’s vast gas reserves, Anyanwu expressed optimism in the government’s efforts, expected to be conducted through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), in implementing essential gas projects for the country’s benefit.
Eze Emmanuel Assor, the traditional leader of the Assa Autonomous Community, commended Oilserv Limited for investing in economic development within the local community and the nation as a whole. He recognized the job opportunities and potential for further investments brought by the project, despite the community’s sacrifices.
Eze Emmanuel Assor appealed to NNPCL to reciprocate the community’s contributions by providing necessary developmental and infrastructural support.
