The INEC political party registration portal has officially launched after extensive internal testing and final commission approval.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) made this announcement on Thursday, reaffirming its dedication to electoral transparency and digital innovation.
According to the commission, its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) department fully designed and developed the new online portal.
INEC confirmed the receipt of ten additional letters of intent from groups seeking recognition as political parties in Nigeria.
This recent submission brings the total number of political party registration applications received by INEC to 144 nationwide.
Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, disclosed this during a media briefing.
He explained that the commission is carefully evaluating each submission based on requirements stated in the Electoral Act provisions.
“A complete report on the review process will be presented during our next scheduled commission meeting,” Olumekun stated firmly.
Additionally, he emphasized that the party registration portal has passed all internal assessments and gained commission-wide approval.
The new portal, he noted, follows INEC’s consistent strategy of adopting in-house ICT solutions for electoral process efficiency.
Furthermore, INEC has made public the names, acronyms, logos, addresses, and interim leadership of applying political associations.
These details are now available on INEC’s official website, allowing Nigerians to verify and engage transparently with the process.
The portal launch reflects INEC’s broader goal of modernizing Nigeria’s electoral system while strengthening voter confidence and institutional credibility.
Olumekun assured the public that INEC would continuously share updates on all registration and electoral developments across platforms.
