Kaduna LG Elections: NSCDC Deploys 1,500 Personnel for Adequate Security

In a move to ensure security during the upcoming local government elections in Kaduna State, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna Command, CC Nuhu BM Dansadau, has ordered the immediate deployment of 1,500 personnel throughout the state. This strategic decision comes as part of the preparations for the elections scheduled for Saturday, which will encompass all 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Kaduna State.

During a muster parade held at the NSCDC Kaduna State Headquarters, Commandant Dansadau outlined the critical responsibilities that lie ahead. He emphasized the importance of maintaining order and safety during the electoral process, which is crucial for a free and fair election environment. Dansadau highlighted the potential challenges that could arise and stressed the need for vigilance among the deployed officers.

In his address, Dansadau issued a stern warning against incidents of accidental discharge of firearms, underscoring the need for disciplined conduct. “We must be extremely careful to avoid any accidental discharge and ensure that our behavior remains exemplary at all times,” he stated, reflecting his commitment to maintaining a high standard of professionalism within the ranks.

The commandant also directed all Divisional Officers to take responsibility for the personnel assigned to their divisions, ensuring that they carry out their duties effectively and without fail. This directive is essential for fostering accountability and ensuring that every officer understands the importance of their role in safeguarding the electoral process.

Dansadau emphasized the necessity for all personnel to adhere strictly to the prescribed dress code. The appearance of the officers not only reflects on the NSCDC but also instills confidence in the public regarding the professionalism and readiness of the security forces. He remarked, “Our attire should reflect the seriousness of our mission and our commitment to serving the community.”

In addition to maintaining order during the elections, the commandant underscored the broader responsibilities of the NSCDC, which include protecting lives and property across the state. This encompasses the safeguarding of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, which are vital for the community’s safety and well-being. Dansadau’s emphasis on these duties highlights the NSCDC’s multifaceted role in ensuring a secure environment not just during the elections, but continuously throughout the year.

The deployment of such a large number of personnel is a clear indication of the NSCDC’s proactive approach to addressing potential security threats that could arise during the electoral process. The command’s focus on preparedness and discipline reflects its understanding of the crucial role it plays in the democratic process, ensuring that citizens can exercise their right to vote without fear.

As the elections draw closer, the presence of these 1,500 personnel across Kaduna State serves as a reassuring measure for the electorate. Their deployment is aimed at deterring any attempts at electoral malpractice or violence, thus fostering a climate of trust and safety in which the democratic process can unfold.

Commandant Nuhu BM Dansadau’s decisive actions underscore the NSCDC’s commitment to ensuring a secure environment for the local government elections in Kaduna State. By deploying a substantial force and emphasizing discipline, accountability, and the protection of both lives and infrastructure, the commandant is laying the groundwork for a successful electoral process. The citizens of Kaduna can look forward to exercising their democratic rights in a secure and peaceful atmosphere, thanks to these robust security measures.
