Kano NNPP Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, has dismissed the Kwankwaso defection rumour as false and politically motivated.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, Dungurawa emphasized that Kwankwaso is far too strategic to make hasty political decisions.
He described the Kwankwaso defection rumour as a panic response from rivals unsettled by Kwankwasiyya’s rising political dominance.
“Kwankwaso is not jumping ship,” Dungurawa declared, adding that his loyalty to the NNPP remains strong and unshaken.
He said many politicians fear Kwankwaso’s growing influence, especially in Northern Nigeria, hence the coordinated misinformation campaign.
According to Dungurawa, serious politicians always consult before acting, and Kwankwaso has never acted without calculated planning.
He added that being seen speaking with others doesn’t confirm defection—dialogue is normal in inclusive political leadership.
“Kwankwaso holds a PhD in politics. He talks to everyone, not just allies. That’s leadership, not disloyalty,” he explained.
He said only fake followers worry about rumours, while real supporters understand Kwankwaso’s deliberate decision-making style.
Dungurawa also praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration for silencing critics with impactful infrastructural development projects.
He claimed that the opposition in Kano has gone mute, stunned by Governor Yusuf’s achievements over two years.
Dungurawa concluded that NNPP remains strong, and Kwankwaso remains the party’s compass heading toward 2027 with confidence.
