Former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido says he could support Peter Obi in 2027 if the coalition agrees.
Lamido clarified that although he remains a PDP member, he is open to supporting any credible coalition candidate.
He said leadership should focus on vision and competence, not tribal sentiments or outdated zoning arrangements.
Lamido noted that zoning was originally a PDP initiative to heal Nigeria after the June 12 election annulment crisis.
The former minister stressed that zoning was a temporary solution but has now become an unnecessary political burden.
He asked what the North has truly gained despite producing the most presidents in Nigeria’s democratic history.
Lamido emphasized he would support Obi or anyone willing to rescue Nigeria from APC’s misrule in 2027.
The Middle Belt Forum also revealed it may support Peter Obi based on his promise to serve one term.
MBF President Bitrus Pogu said Obi’s consistency and integrity made him a strong contender for the presidency in 2027.
Pogu added that the North currently lacks credible candidates, increasing chances to support Peter Obi in 2027 elections.
He noted the region could back someone trustworthy like Obi or former President Goodluck Jonathan if constitutionally allowed.
The MBF said they would consider any southern candidate promising to serve one term to balance power rotation.
Former Minister Ibrahim Nakande, however, said Obi’s one-term promise might not be acceptable to all regions politically.
He stated Obi enjoys nationwide support and should focus on policies that appeal to all Nigerians for victory.
This evolving coalition debate highlights increasing willingness across Nigeria’s regions to support Peter Obi in 2027 elections.
