Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has declared that she will be in the senate for reinstatement on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

The Kogi Central Senator confirmed her return while addressing journalists during a constituency event in Kogi over the weekend.

Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended by the Senate on March 6, following her allegation of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

As part of the suspension, she lost access to the National Assembly complex, including her salary and security personnel.

However, on July 4, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the Senate to lift her suspension immediately.

Despite the Senate’s pending appeal at the Court of Appeal, Abuja, Akpoti-Uduaghan insists she will resume legislative duties as scheduled.

“I have just two months left before the six-month suspension expires, but I’m returning to work immediately,” she stated.

She revealed she had officially written to the Senate leadership, notifying them of her intention to return on July 22.

“The court gave a clear decision in my favor. Therefore, I will resume duties this Tuesday, by God’s grace,” she added.

Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed that the suspension disrupted her ability to serve the people of Kogi Central effectively in recent months.

She emphasized her commitment to continue working for her constituents despite political setbacks and ongoing legal challenges.

Her statement comes amid debates around legislative independence, judicial authority, and alleged political intimidation in Nigeria’s upper chamber.

The Senator reiterated her faith in the judiciary and vowed to defend her mandate and political integrity through all lawful means.

Meanwhile, Senate President Akpabio has formally appealed the Federal High Court ruling, in favour of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Senate reinstatement, seeking a reversal of the order.

However, Akpoti-Uduaghan believes the court ruling is binding, and she remains determined to reoccupy her seat and serve Kogi Central.

Her resumption marks a critical moment for democratic accountability and judicial intervention in legislative misconduct cases across Nigeria.
