The Youth Party warns APC that the ruling party is vulnerable ahead of the 2027 general elections. Ayodele Adio, the National Publicity Secretary of the Youth Party (YP), said Nigerians are eager for a credible alternative to the incumbent government.
Adio made the comments on Thursday during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief. He based his assessment on his recent campaign experience, interacting with voters at ward and polling-unit levels.
“The incumbent is very beatable. They are standing on weak footing,” Adio said.
He emphasized that dissatisfaction among the electorate gives opposition parties an opportunity to present themselves as a viable alternative.
The Youth Party warns APC that only a united opposition can challenge the ruling party effectively. Adio noted that fragmented interests among opposition parties, particularly within the PDP, and recurring debates over zoning could complicate coalition-building.
“If opposition parties hope to challenge the APC in 2027, they must present a united front. Fragmentation will make the effort difficult,” he added.
Despite the challenges, Adio insisted that public opinion favors a credible alternative. According to him, Nigerians are eager for a new system and are dissatisfied with the status quo.
“I can tell you for a fact that Nigerians are desperate for an alternative system,” he said.
The Party warns that the party cannot take voter support for granted. Opposition unity, strategic planning, and presenting credible alternatives are key to challenging the ruling party in 2027.
